Homecoming Poster 2018:
Medieval Knight Stained Glass Window Part One
It's courtwarming(aka basketball homecoming) week at my school, and I've been busy all week helping make our class poster. So, I figured I'd explain to you guys how we built it, since it's pretty cool. It also won us first place in the poster competition.
Our theme was medieval, so we decided to do a knight in a stained glass window(made of tissue paper), with a three dimensional stone archway, and a banner saying "Goeth, Fighteth,Winneth" at the bottom. We also put lights behind the window to make it more realistic. It's about eight feet tall.
First, we found a picture of a knight in a stained glass window we wanted to use. We projected the image onto the wall and taped strips of construction paper to the wall to form the "leading" of the window.
The next step was to glue tissue paper to the same side, so the lights could shine through. (Remember to put the side of tissue paper you want to see facing away from you, because the side with the tape that you see, is the back side.) Finally, we covered the entire back of the window in clear packing tape to make sure it wouldn't tear, and for more support.
Meanwhile, we had the boys fold and tape poster board into rectangular prisms for the archway. They also made and taped triangular prisms to the inside of the archway to make it more supportive. Then they spray painted it and assembled the pieces with tape and hot glue.
