Stormy Ocean Wave Painting: Part 2, The Wave
This is part two of my stormy ocean wave painting. I will be explaining how to paint the wave. Find how to paint the sky here.
I first painted the top wall of the wave light blue, which faded down to dark blue. The top of the wave where it's folding over, faded from dark blue to light blue. Make sure to paint it with strokes going with the grain of the wave. After that I mixed some dark grey with a little bit of blue, and painted the water in front of the wave. Then, I gradually faded the dark grey into light grey, with just a touch of blue.
Next, I added in the sea foam with light grey. I used a stiff brush to dab on the grey onto the edge of the wave. Also, I added in a little bit of blue to show the water behind the wave. I brushed over the water with a little bit of real as well. Then, I used a small brush with very light grey to add in some water lines. Make sure to make the lines on fvs wave more vertical, and the ones toward the bottom more horizontal.

The next step was to dab on some again for the sea foam. Then I flicked some white onto the canvas where the sea foam was. I also added in some dark grey under the wave, as well as some in other parts of the water.
After that, I added in some grey for the shadows of the sea foam. I also added a lot more grey lines into the water. I brushed over that with some light grey, then went back over that and highlighted the white lines.
And this was my final product!
